At Honolulu Waldorf School, students in Grades 1 through 8 have plenty of opportunity to engage in afterschool activities on campus including the popular Hula Club, Circus Arts Club, and ukulele lessons.
Private and group lessons in violin, viola, cello, and band instruments are also held on campus. These extracurricular programs support and enhance the students’ work and activities in and outside of the classroom.
Off-campus, students in Grades 7 and 8 are eligible to participate in Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH) Intermediate level athletics in soccer, basketball, wrestling, canoe paddling, and swimming.
Honolulu Waldorf School offers two aftercare programs – one for Early Childhood children and one for students in Grades 1-8. Each program meets Monday through Friday, from 2:45-5:30 p.m. The Early Childhood Aftercare Program emphasizes imaginative play both indoors and out, storytelling, music, art, and delicious snacks. The Grades Aftercare Program focuses on both free and organized outdoor play and activities. Our expansive field, basketball court, and playground equipment including stilts or unicycles, offer the children plenty of scope for all sorts of games, imaginative play, handwork, painting, and crafts, all under the shade of our beautiful monkey pod trees. Classroom space and supervision are available for students who choose to use this time to complete homework or engage in other quiet activities.
Both aftercare programs are led by graduates of Waldorf teacher training programs, with support from Kula Makua students (current Waldorf teachers-in-training) and experienced caregivers.
